Aaron Sandeen serves as the State of Arizona Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Deputy Director of Arizona Strategic Enterprise Technology Office (ASET) within the Arizona Department of Administration.

Prior to his appointment to this position, by Governor Janice K. Brewer, he served as Deputy Director and CIO of GITA. 

Before arriving at this agency, Mr. Sandeen served as the Deputy Director of the Arizona Governor’s Office of Economic Recovery (GOER) where he implemented a system to track over $3 billion in American Recovery and Reinvestment monies coming to Arizona.

Prior to joining state government, Mr. Sandeen worked with UnitedHealth Group as Director of the Project Management Office.  In this role, he was tasked with project management and implementation of the Arizona Children’s Rehabilitative Services (CRS) Program for AmeriChoice APIPA.  He also led the implementation for the new CRS line of business that included more than 20,000 members and 2,700 providers.

Additionally, Mr. Sandeen has worked in the private sector for Intel, Microsoft and Syntellect.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Operations from DeVry University.

Mr. Sandeen’s day-to-day duties as State CIO and GITA Director will include strategic planning and coordination of all state information technology, IT project review and monitoring, and maintenance of e-government.
