Use of Technology in Creating a 21st Century Prosecution Agency

The criminal justice system is a complex process involving multiple agencies from all levels of government.  Effective prosecution of criminal activity requires more than just timely access to case information.  It involves technological advances to keep pace with ever-increasing caseloads; to effectively prosecute sophisticated criminal endeavors, such as identity theft; and to use technology to determine emerging criminal trends.  The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office is the 3rd largest prosecution agency in the United States, and is an important component within the Maricopa County criminal justice system.  The speakers will discuss specific technological improvements currently underway that will enable prosecutors to effectively prosecute criminal activities in the 21st century and how technology is being used for predictive analysis of criminal trends.
