BYOD: A Cautionary Perspective

Who doesn’t want to bring their own device? From the C-Suite to facilities, everyone has a tablet, smartphone or laptop that they are convinced is superior to the equipment issued by IT. Vendors tell us that desktop virtualization is the solution that allows full Enterprise security and control over any platform; that Mobile Device Management and Network Access Control tools provide compliance-level assurance of our most sensitive data on every device.  At first glance, this seems like a great opportunity to shift budget from refreshing hardware to actually enhancing the business. What could possibly go wrong?
