Randy Frazier Jr. joined the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County in Houston, Texas, on April 1999 as an attorney in the agency’s Legal Department.

Since that time, METRO has promoted Frazier to several positions including Senior Staff Attorney, Associate Vice President of Corporate Development and Associate Vice President of Information Technology.

Since joining METRO’s IT Department in October 2009, Frazier has helped to implement a number of cost-saving programs and begun a comprehensive restructuring of the department to better align it with the agency’s long-term strategies.

Today, he serves as Vice President and Chief Information Officer for the agency, overseeing 55 employees/contractors and an annual budget of $20 million.  Under his leadership the Department successfully implemented an $18 million communications system for METRO’s entire 1,200 bus fleet using a first in the region 4G LTE backbone.  That backbone will serve to deliver real-time bus arrivals to METRO’s customers via a Trip Routing Information and Planning (TRIP) app that is to be released on May 25, 2013.  The app will be available for free on the IOS, Windows Phone and Android platforms.
