As the Deputy Chief Technology Officer and Director of Major Projects for the Colorado Governor’s Office of Information Technology, Mr. Brown is responsible for guiding and managing the use and deployment of technology across the State of Colorado Executive Branch agencies; including both strategic planning and operational delivery. He assists the CTO in providing overall leadership for the enterprise architecture, enterprise applications, health information services, major incident and change management, infrastructure operations and end user support services consisting of about 800 staff organized into five functional groups He also serves as project leader for major IT projects (generally $25M +).

Mr. Brown serves in a senior leadership capacity and plays a major role in driving OIT's technology strategy, technology execution, and operational performance by the technical teams. He Functions as a collaborative strategic business partner within the organization, and with other state agencies and public and private entities.

He also Interfaces with Governor's Office and State Legislature (and various subcommittees) to communicate and provide justification on technology selection, investment, requirements, and decisions affecting OIT, the Agencies, State Programs, consultant partners, and the Citizens of Colorado. Mr. Brown has was also a member of the influential Colorado Voter Access and Modernization Commission and currently serves on the Governor’s Energy and Environment Policy Working Group.

Prior to his tenure with the State of Colorado, Mr. Brown had over 27 years of IT experience in the private sector. As the Vice President of Information Technology for a major regional restaurant chain Peter Piper Pizza, Mr. Brown was recruited to upgrade and replace obsolete technologies in this $150M family casual restaurant chain with more than 1200 users in 45 remote locations that he successfully completed 2 days before his first anniversary. Mr. Brown also led the team that successfully developed a proprietary Point of Sale system for Vicorp Restaurants nearly 450 units. This state of the art system is still in use today because of the innovative and flexible architecture used. 

Mr. Brown is the President of the International Telescope Museum and President, Pro Tem of the International Vacuum Tube Museum in Lakewood, Colorado.
